For this case study, we interviewed David Paffenholz, CEO and Co-Founder of Juicebox. He’s been using Octolens daily for over a year. What started as a tool he used mostly himself, Octolens is now embedded in team workflows across Marketing, Sales, and Product.

With Juicebox’s rapid growth, there comes an influx of online chatter.
And much of it spread across Reddit, LinkedIn, X, Podcasts and beyond, often untagged, unstructured, and hard to track.
Juicebox is powered by word of mouth. As David puts it, “All of our growth comes from inbound and community conversations, but for a long time, we were in the dark.”
The team would occasionally stumble on Reddit threads or niche forum posts, but discovery was random and incomplete. Anonymous platforms made it especially difficult to track sentiment or join conversations in time.
Even after trying out other tools, visibility remained patchy:
Tools didn’t surface the full range of platforms (Reddit and LinkedIn especially)
They lacked AI relevance and easy to use filtering, which made brand-specific monitoring hard (“Juicebox” is a common word outside recruiting)
Setup was either slow or required manual onboarding with sales reps
That’s when Juicebox switched to Octolens.
Octolens gave Juicebox two big wins up front
- Instant coverage across Reddit, Hacker News, LinkedIn, and X
- Best-in-class filtering, including AI filters and boolean logic that helped separate signal from noise
- Ability to self-serve and sign up without a sales call and enterprise pricing
“I was able to set everything up myself, fast,” said David. “And Octolens’ filtering logic was the best we’d seen, especially for a name like Juicebox where irrelevant mentions are common.”

Just as importantly, it fits right into the team’s daily flow.
The entire sales team is subscribed to Juicebox mentions, using them to re-engage prospects and jump into relevant threads
Marketing leadership reviews sentiment and key posts in a more structured way to assess brand perception and messaging fit
Engineers and founders read the daily digests too, helping everyone stay close to the product feedback loop
“I read the full email digest every day,” David said. “That alone makes Octolens pretty unique. It gets my attention.”
While the Juicebox team no longer manually searches for brand mentions, replicating what Octolens does would take at least 10 hours per week.
Beyond time saved, Octolens has become a messaging feedback tool.

Juicebox has used surfaced mentions to refine how they describe core features. One example: their outreach module was originally positioned as a CRM, but Octolens helped the team realize “CRM” wasn’t resonating with users.
They’ve since rebranded the feature as “Sequences,” a term more aligned with user expectations and language.
“We saw people using different terms to describe us. It made us realize we were misaligned. That insight directly shaped our external messaging.”

Juicebox blends two workflows to get the most from Octolens:
Unstructured Awareness: Company-wide, people read daily email digests and jump in when needed
Structured Analysis: Marketing and leadership review sentiment and post-level feedback, updating messaging and positioning as needed
This allows Juicebox to stay fast and reactive while still pulling broader strategic insight over time.

David shared that one of the most valuable things is measuring progress of the brand over time, for instance tracking the volume of positive mentions over time.
Based on his and other user’s feedback we released our AI-generated weekly summaries for a better understanding of trends.
Coupled with the mentions analytics, the Juicebox team can inform themselves on weekly trends and evaluate how sentiment changes over time.
