# Company Context

> Tell Octolens about your business so the AI can judge which mentions are actually relevant to you.

Your company context is the biggest lever on relevance. The AI uses it to decide whether a post is about you, which matters most when your brand is a common word like "Arc," "Modal," or "Stripe."

<Note>
  Octolens fills in your company context from your website during onboarding. Edit it any time in **Settings → Company Profile**. Changes apply to new posts; existing mentions keep their scores.

## Fields

**Company name** and **Company description** are required. The other fields are optional, and each one you fill in cuts irrelevant mentions.

| Field | What to enter | Example |
| - | - | - |
| Company name | Your company or product name as it appears publicly | `Octolens` |
| Company description | Two to three sentences on what you do, how it works, and who it's for. Include your core use cases, the platforms or tech involved, and the outcome for users. | See below |
| Product use cases | The main jobs your product does. Click **+** to add each one as its own entry. | See below |
| X/Twitter account | Your handle without the `@` | `Octolens` |
| LinkedIn account | The part after `linkedin.com/company/` | `Octolens` |

**Example description**

> Octolens is social listening for tech brands. It monitors mentions from across the entire internet: social media, news, podcasts, communities, newsletters, reviews. Every mention is AI-filtered for relevance and delivered where your team already works: Slack, email, your CRM, or straight to your AI agents via API, webhooks, and MCP.

**Example use cases.** Short, concrete entries work better than one long paragraph:

* Track brand mentions across social, community, and media channels so teams can respond quickly.
* Monitor competitor names and category keywords to understand market sentiment and share of voice.
* Detect pain-point and buying-signal conversations on Reddit, X, LinkedIn, Hacker News, and GitHub.
* Route mention data into Slack, email, webhooks, API, or MCP-powered agent workflows.

## Keep it current

Update your company context when your positioning, pricing model, or core use cases change. The AI reads it every time it scores a new post.

<Tip>
  Seeing too many irrelevant mentions? Check your company context before you change keyword settings. Thin context causes most noise.
